Improving resident experience and outcomes in post-disaster relocation and home buyout programs

We are currently engaged in projects in New York, South Carolina, Texas, and California that are focused on post-disaster relocation. While each of these projects vary by location, all are focused on improving recovery and resident outcomes in post-disaster settings.

Upside Allentown Housing Committee

We worked with members organizations of the Upside Allentown Housing Committee to design, implement, and analyze of survey of first-time home buyers in the Lehigh Valley. The survey explored factors that influenced home buying decisions of potential home buyers, with an emphasis on factors that encouraged and discouraged families to purchase homes in Allentown.

Evaluation, Society for Community Research & Action’s 15th Biennial Conference

Dr. Craig C. Brookins (North Carolina State University) and Dr. Binder developed and conducted an evaluation of the biennial conference of SCRA, the professional organization for Community Psychology in the U.S.

Program evaluation, National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute

Dr. Binder served as the qualitative lead on a team with colleagues from Concept Systems, Inc (Ithaca, NY) to evaluate a multi-year scientific innovation imitative funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Hawai‘i  Sexual Assault Service Standards Project

Dr. Binder led the qualitative interview and focus group components of a project with partners at the University of Hawai‘i  to developing a manual of best practice standards for the delivery of sexual assault services in the state. This was a multi-faceted process funded by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice (Grant No. 2009-ES-S6-0041).
